How does Non- Ablative Skin Resurfacing through fractional technology work?

The Palomar Lux1540 Fractional Non- Ablative Resurfacing laser sends an array of controlled microbeams into the dermis. These microbeams cause a change in the collagen and elastin below the skin surface. This results in a reduction of sun damage, acne scars, and an improvement in skin texture and tone.

What makes these treatments different from others?

Unlike some resurfacing devices that remove the epidermis and some of the dermis, the Lux1540 uses the “Fractional” non-ablative approach - the delivery of an array of high powered microbeams into the skin. Each microbeam creates a narrow column of tissue coagulation that penetrates the epidermis and dermis, while sparing the surrounding tissue from damage. The unaffected tissue stimulates quicker collagen remodeling and initiates a natural healing process that accelerates the formation of new, healthy tissue.

Are these treatments safe? Are they painful?

The Lux1540 Fractional Resurfacing procedure is much safer and more comfortable than the resurfacing approach of many other systems because it leaves much of the skin unaffected by the light pulses. With the Lux1540 Fractional Resurfacing there is a built - in cooling system for patient comfort. This is a well-tolerated procedure with no need for anesthetic.

What should I expect after treatment?

You may experience lingering warmth, redness and swelling in the treated area. Because so much of the skin is unaffected by the light pulses, there is a quick healing process. Mild to moderate redness and swelling is to be expected for 2 to 5 days after the treatment. A series of treatments at 4 week intervals may be required to achieve the desired results
