What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is a cosmetic and or medical procedure in which a solution is injected into veins (also referred to as vessels) causing the injected veins to shrink in size. This treatment has been used for varicose veins and spider veins for over 150 years, although the techniques used have changed and improved over the years.

Liquid Sclerotherapy

Injectable sclerosant is used to treat spider and small varicose veins. Multiple short sessions are needed, 4 to 6 weeks apart. 

Foam Sclerotherapy

This form of sclerotherapy also involves an injectable sclerosant is used to treat larger varicose veins under ultrasound guidance by a physician.
